(1) SHOCK ABSORBERS. We have received your telegram reporting on the breakage of another front shock absorber and are despatching to you a complete replacement as soon as possible. We have run the type of shock absorber you have broken on the bump for over 130 hrs. and have only had one breakage after 50 hrs. running, and we are therefore somewhat surprised at the failure. We are anxious to obtain all the information possible with regard to the steering of this car. We should like you to make experiments with :- (a) Pivot lean. (b) The friction in the cross steering tube (load of this should be given in tangential pull lbs. load at the steering wheel rim with the front axle jacked up). (c) Side steering tubes. In addition to the std. side steering tube to N.sch.2301 which was on the car, RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} sent out to Chateauroux some time ago a side contd:- | ||
