contd :- -2- steering tube to N.sch.2258. We should like you to try this out and report on it. (d) We should also like you to state what arrangement of front shock absorbers give the best compromise for (1) Radiator movement. (2) Steering joggles. (3) PROPELLER SHAFT. We have been making tests on the prop. shafts on a rig in the Expl: Dept:. We find that no matter how well the faces of the universal joints are made, it will leak oil unless some jointing substance such as 'Heldtite' is used. Furthermore, we have found that leather washers are much more satisfactory than felt washers. We should like you to dismantle the joints and erect them with a jointing material. We suggest that you whitewash the joints and you will be able to see exactly where the leak comes from. If it comes from the felt washers, we suggest that you replace them with leathers. We should be interested to have any further information on the K.S. telegage. HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
