The S.U. Carburetter Co. Birmingham. -2- We are running a 1¾" S.U. carburetter on one of our Aero Sales cars used by Mr. Lappin of Conduit St.{Capt. P. R. Strong} and which is fitted up with this combination of needle and piston. The unit in this car is exactly the same as the one in the tank. The car is used mainly round London and it is not very convenient for it to get to Birmingham. However I have asked Mr. Lappin to get into communication with you to see if it can be arranged that one of your experts should have a chance to see if he could improve the general functioning of the carburetter. Possibly you have someone in London who could do the job, but you would appreciate that we do not want a rumour to get about that S.U. carburetters are going to be fitted on the 25 H.P. when this is not the case, and for this reason we have advised Mr. Lappin that perhaps it would be inadvisable to call on your London service station. However, we leave the matter to you. In the meantime we are putting one of your 1¾" carburetters on the tank to see if the air valve will stand up under conditions of sand etc. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
