I have received a letter dated the 9th instant from Mr Truffault, 51, Avenue des Ternes, Paris, from whom we have ordered a set of shock absorbers for testing purposes, worded as follows:-

" Will you believe me when I say that the delay
"has rather advanced our affairs. This requires an
"explanation which I give you at once.

" Mr Koechlin (of MM.Peugeot) has my new shock
"absorbers on his car. After having covered a
"respectable number of kilometres, which were not
"done at one go, as you can imagine the test re-
"quired a certain lapse of time. I asked him to
"examine the interior of two of the shock absorbers,
"one at the rear and one at the front. Mr Koechlin
"and Mr Gianque - the amiable Engineer of the Peugeot
"firm were also interested to know what had taken
"place in the "stomach of my animals" in addition to
"the satisfactory results obtained by Mr Koechlin
"on roads he had chosen; you can guess what they were
"like'.
