Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Lid.{A. J. Lidsey} c. to G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} D/BP 8180 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Lid.{A. J. Lidsey}2/MA.25. 1. 32. OLD EXPERIMENTAL CAR BODIES. We are storing at Sanderson & Holmes three old Experimental car bodies, 9-EX, 19-EX, 23-EX. These bodies are for disposal; we have received notification from Sales that there is absolutely no market for them in London, and asking us to do the best we can locally. We have received an offer of £10 from Sanderson & Holmes for 19-EX body. The offer is provisional and subject to a client of Sanderson & Holmes accepting their estimate for the overhauling and alteration of the body to suit his chassis. This body originally cost £742 (5 years ago) and its present value according to our books is £372, this latter figure is of course absurdly high, we should not expect to get more than £10 for it in its present state of repair; there is no market at all for second hand bodies. In view of the fact that we are paying storage for this body we think that we should inform Sanderson & Holmes that we will accept their provisional offer of £10. We should welcome your decision on this matter. 23-EX and 9-EX bodies have now been stored for approximately 12 months. The longer they are stored the less they are worth and the chance of disposing of them decreases daily. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/A.J.Lidsey. | ||
