I REFERENCE ED{J. L. Edwards}/AUTO 15th. October. 1935. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Limited, DERBY. For the attention of Mr. E.W. Hives Dear Sirs, Further to the visit of our Technical representative, Mr. J.Russell Sharp, on the 10th instant in connection with the test you have recently made on the continent using Mobiloil "D" in a V 12 45 h.p. Rolls-Royce Phantom III engine, we have pleasure in giving below, details of the analysis of the sample of used oil with which you provided us through the Vacuum Oil Company, S.A.F. Paris. Used Mobiloil "D" Unused Mobiloil "D" Specific Gravity .886 .885 Open Flash Point 325°F 465°F Redwood Viscosity @ 70°F 2870" 2650" @ 100°F 977" 910" @ 140°F 314" 305" @ 200°F 101" 99" Colour Dark Compound Nil Fuel 5.0% Carbon 0.16% Water, sludge & other impurities trace You will notice that this oil is in excellent condition. The amount of fuel dilution is entirely normal, and the carbon is extremely low for the high mileage, and heavy duty work to which it has no doubt, been subjected. You will see that the oil has thickened somewhat, but not to any appreciable degree, and this is not unexpected, as we understand that oil sump temperatures have been relatively high. UNLESS STATED OTHERWISE ALL OILS ARE QUOTED AND INVOICED PER UNIT GALLON OF 9 LBS. AND ALL QUOTATIONS ARE WITHOUT ENGAGEMENT | ||
