To Nor. From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. to BG. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}5/MJ.31.7.30. x7770 x7579 COMMANDER GLEN KIDSTON. - PHANTOM II. At the commencement of this discussion we pointed out to Commander Kidson that we were only in a position to say whether the departures from standard that he required were technically feasible or not. In the event of us agreeing that it was possible to do as he suggested, the administration would then decide what should actually be done. This gentleman asked for the following departures from standard :- (1) 2" Higher Radiator & Bonnet Alterations. He has designs for a body which depend for their success on a 2" higher radiator. He has seen Sir Henry Segrave's car and we told him that drawings for this radiator were in existence, and that it was certainly a step towards what he wanted. We believe that if By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} dealt directly with Thrupp & Maberly with regard to the radiator and bonnet probably they would be satisfied. with the parts fitted to 25-EX. If it is agreed that it is policy to supply these. The other features asked for were:- (1) Front of bonnet raised a small amount to be as near the top line of the radiator tank as possible. (2) Rear of bonnet carried over the dashboard top (i.e. 25-EX.) (3) Altered shape of radiator cap. | ||
