E1/M211125., Mr. Royce has decided to revise the policy laid down so as to avoid shortening the engine and altering the bolting of the head. This will greatly simplify and reduce the work to be done. The list of proposed alterations as revised will now read as follows:- (1) ALUMINIUM CYL. HEAD. (2) " " BLOCK. (3) SHORTER RODS IF FOUND POSSIBLE WITH CONSEQUENT REDUCTION TO HEIGHT OF CRANKCASE. (4) DURALUMIN VALVE PUSH RODS WITH STEEL ENDS. (5) LIGHTER CAMSHAFT HAVING LARGER HOLE DRILLED UP CENTRE. (6) ALUMINIUM CAMSHAFT BEARINGS WITH SHORTER HOUSINGS IN CRANKCHAMBER WEBS. (7) SHORTENED OIL TROUGH FOR FEEDING OIL PUMP DRIVE GEARS. (8) DURALUMIN MAIN BEARING CAPS. (9) REDUCE DEPTH OF VALVE TAPPET BOSSES ETC, ALSO CAST LARGE OVAL HOLES IN VALVE TAPPET CHAMBER AS PER ITEM 11.E1/M211125. (10) CANCEL CAST ALUMINIUM TUBE AND FLANGES SURROUNDING THE OIL PUMP DRIVE. (11) ALTERATION TO FRONT FOOT CORING AS PER ITEM 13. OF THE AFOREMENTIONED MEMO. (12) REPLACE THE BOLTS AT PRESENT SECURING THE CYLS. BY STUDS AS PER ITEM 14. OF ORIGINAL MEMO. (13) MAKE TOP VALVE GEAR COVER FROM SHEET METAL PRESSING AS E1/M211125. (14) CAST OUT LARGE PANELLED HOLES IN TOP OF VALVE TAPPET CHAMBERS AS PER ITEM 16. OF E1/M211125. (15) SEE WHAT WEIGHT CAN BE REMOVED FROM THE TIMING GEARS BY ALTERATION TO MATERIAL AND DESIGN. (1) | ||
