To HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std. 200a Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.8/AP.12.7.37 6.B.1V. FAN AND THERMOSTAT. With the thermostat scheme requested for 6.B.1V., the bypass pipe fouls the fan adjustment (which is modified to suit the new engine mounting). This makes it desirable that you should fit a 3/8" bypass union instead of a 5/8" union (as indicated in Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.11/AP.9.7.37) either by plugging the existing hole or obtaining a new casting. Will you also modify the fan as follows:- (1) Delete knurled adjusting nut E.52867 and substitute adj. nut E.52866. (2) Fit std. lock nut instead of E.52866 nut. (3) Shorten adjusting rod E.52870 to clear bypass pipe. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std. | ||
