The Mercuric Chloride test requirements for special brass lubrication tubes.

We also insist that our tubes shall withstand Mercuric Chloride test by which a sample from each consignment is immersed in a saturated solution of Mercuric Chloride at 50 to 70°F.{Mr Friese} for a period of 1½ hours.

They must withstand this test without showing any signs of cracking.

In conclusion we would say that the whole of our experience goes to show that an ordinary commercially produced brass tube is entirely unsuitable for lubrication tubing and that it is necessary to have special tubes produced for the purpose along the lines indicated above.
