your present scheme, using the Schatz bearing. However, here again, probably your own experience indicates that the mounting is quite satisfactory, and I mention this as a matter of interest, while of course, the other form of construction for the diff. mounting is to eliminate the half caps making the housing solid, and mounting the diff. cage on to the O.D. of the bearing having an adjustable member fastened into the solid diff. casing in a similar way to that adopted on the Talbot. This construction always appeals to me, in that it seems inconsistent to design for rigidity all around the job and then to finish up with half caps on the diff. bearing.

I am enclosing herewith your drawing H.Sch.4827, and with regard to the drawings of your existing standard arrangement, I am keeping these in my own desk for the time being, in the event of any further discussions arising.

Incidentally, if prior to approaching The Kirkstall Forge people direct there is any additional information I can obtain from my friend Cowell, I should be glad to assist in any way.

Kindest regards,

Yours sincerely,
F.O.Thickly
