ALTA CAR & ENGINEERING Co. Ltd.—Continued. - 2 - April 22nd, 1939. Messrs. Rolls-Royce, Ltd. 1. If the bore of the rod was ground (70 ton Nickel chrome) and provision made for lubrication, would floating bushes be an advantage? 2. Is it possible, if the lubrication failed momentarily, for this material to seize and destroy the shaft or rod? 3. Is it normally used on your cars with a soft crankshaft? 4. We use .003" clearance on diameter and .006" on the sides. 5. We presume we should obtain this material from Well-worthys in the event of us deciding to fit it? We do not like to cause you all this trouble but would like the confidence given to us by your replies. Yours faithfully, FOR AND ON BEHALF OF ALTA CAR & ENG. CO. LTD.
