X6029 ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. INSTRUCTIONS. To: E.F.C. Order No. 10 P.L. Customer's No. X6029 L.H. Chassis Broken Link Switch (Og/R/14/N.P. 371) This was returned from the Test dept. owing to contact failure which appeared to be due to pitting of the points. On examining it, however it was found that the pitting was not great but some foreign substance of a greasy or waxy nature had covered the points. This was fairly hard but was removed by fairly hard brushing with a cloth leaving the points bright and smooth as new. To test the switch we rigged it up on an automatic starter and made it operate 10,000 times lighting a 12v 24 c.p. lamp. This had no appreciable effect on the contacts. We think they are safe for use in production provided that you keep them clean during erection. We suggest however that some (contd) This Sheet must be filed on completion of the work. | ||
