Messrs. Rolls Royce Limited,
DERBY.

For the attention of Mr. Steadman.

Dear Sirs,

We are in receipt of your letter of the 29th ult., together with modified drawing E.B. 3416 showing the addition of two small metal tabs on the stiffener of the Bentley II and Bentley III Dummy Shutter Sets. All Bentley II Shutter Sets will be delivered in future incorporating this modification.

We note your remarks regarding the Bentley III radiator on which you will alter the vertical position of the yoke front stiffener and shutter stiffener so that they line up and thus prevent damage to the matrix.

We have now received the damaged Bentley III Matrix Unit which you have returned to us and as arranged are using certain of the parts on the Bentley '50' radiator.

We look forward to receiving the remainder of the machine parts and other small fittings as soon as possible so that the B.50 can be completed. The work is well advanced and we shall be able to complete it within 2/3 days from receipt of the items you are supplying.

We have carefully examined the bottom tank which you returned and we have been informed by our Works that they do not agree with your remarks in connection with the soldering of this tank to the matrix. First of all we would like to point out that this tank was not dip soldered to the matrix, but hand soldered, and of course the tank is hand made.

Examination of the bottom tank and the matrix show that the soldering was in our opinion satisfactory and the fact that a leakage has not occurred supports this view.
