It appears that we shall have to go to the Per three bolt locking on front dampers

Hotel de France,
Chateauroux,
FRANCE.

PER.II.

We have improved the riding of the car considerably by reducing the poundage of the dampers to 80. It has in no way affected the high speeds.

We have now established that the cause of the most pronounced knock from the front is the N.S. damper moving on the frame. We cannot make a positive job of this and it will not remain firm choose how they are tightened up. We have detected a slight knock from the valve of the N.S.F. damper.

FAN BELT.
This has stretched so much that it came off and tore up. We have fitted a spare but this was too large. We have therefore cut off the stop so as to get more adjustment.

REAR AXLE.
This is very good for absence of oil leaks down the shafts, so far it has not shown any mechanical defects.

Gearbox tests are being carried out.

SILENCER.
The flange on the front silencer has almost broken off. We cannot get this repaired today as all places are closed, but we shall have to dismantle it in the morning to have it welded or else we shall have the front pipe distorting.

RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} and Lr.{Mr Ellor} arrived here last night and have departed at noon today for Paris.
