x4057 To G.W.Hancock, Hotel de France, Chateauroux, Indre, FRANCE. From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}18/MJ.28.11.32. Many thanks for your memos. I am sorry about the mix-up in Paris. At the present moment it seems to be rather a mystery as to where the telegram came from, alleged to have beensigned by Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} With regard to your troubles - (1) Brake Toggles. We have instructed these to be stiffened up. (2) Shock Absorber Support. We are sending two out to you in mild steel as soon as we can get them made. (3) We are going to try and reproduce your results on the axle control arm on the bump. We should like to know whether you suspect that this piece is short of lubrication or whether the biting in bolt has prevented the pad following up the spring pressure. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} is anxious that you should cover as many miles as you can because he is expecting to order some material to produce some more cars almost immediately and therefore he wishes you to reproduce any major failures that are likely to occur, during the present test. At the same time we should definitely like some information as to the oil leaks from the rear main bearing. Possibly you can do this by colouring the engine oil and also we should like you to get the best results out of the braking system. You will have heard of our various troubles from Grylls. We are also very interested to know how the R.A.D. clutch material behaves. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
