Dear Bill,

Many thanks for your letter - with Income Tax at 8/6 and every prospect of going higher, £2000 seems too hot to me for a motor!
I am [struck through] sorry I must pipe down at that - but it won't prevent me being very interested in your products even if I can't afford one.
