Messrs. Lodge Plugs Ltd.

Dear Mr. Hopps,

I was glad to hear that we had succeeded in fixing your car with regard to the over-run vibration of which you complained - I only hope it stays put.

While I was in the States I heard of a very satisfactory material for sparking plug electrodes which was being successfully used at Wright Field the Premier Research Station for the Army. This material is called Durimet L and is produced by The Duriron Co. of Dayton, Ohio. I managed to get the following analysis :-

Ni 19.5 - 23
Cr{Mr Cra???ster / Mr Chichester} 18.8 - 21.5
Si 2.75 - 3.75
Mn .5 - .75
Mo 1 - 1.50

High Carbon Low Carbon
Cu 1.25 .25 - .45
C .20 .09

These sparking plug electrodes have been developed specifically to overcome the corrosion difficulties which have been brought up by the use of TEL. As you know, TEL. fuel is in universal use on both cars and aircraft in the United States.

Yours sincerely,
