confirmed our opinion on this point. There is also the little oil pump. A rather large three throw oil pump has been detailed out in your office with the idea in view that this pump would be used for any kind of testing work where oil pressure is required. For this purpose it may be satisfactory and useful, but Mr. Royce did not seem to see any immediate use for such a pump. For the purpose of this Indicator Diagram Apparatus this pump would be totally unsuitable, and it will be necessary to have detailed out a small single throw plunger pump which will only deal with a very small quantity of oil. The remainder of the apparatus consists of such things as pipes, pressure gauges and air vessels, and should be quite strait forward.

Mr. Royce expressed a desire to see the drawings on this job before anything is made; we think therefore that we might endeavour to work this up to a really satisfactory scheme before we send anything along. The main point is that Mr. Royce has great faith in the principle of the apparatus and seems very desirous of experimental work on such apparatus being carried out. We shall be glad therefore if you can see your way to give this matter some attention.
