MAGNETO FOR 20 HP. CAR. V3557

There are one or two points which have been brought out in running Magnetos on the 20 H.P. cars which we consider should be incorporated on the cars as soon as possible :-

1. The spring locked ball joint for the contact breaker control.
This is a very necessary feature and it should be fitted to all cars having a magneto.

2. Serrated joint with spherical seating and spring loaded in order to damp the drive and avoid rattles.
This is also a desirable feature to get on the cars as soon as possible.

3. On the Magneto Control we use a long length of 3.BA rod for one of the push and pull control rods. If the magneto is at all stiff the 3.BA rod buckles badly.

The sleeve type Watford magnetos are arranged with a certain amount of friction on the contact breaker advance and retard to avoid the rattles caused by the drag of the armature on the sleeve.
