For the attention of Mr. Lampman.

Dear Sirs,

On August 12th, 1939, you wrote our Mr.Leslie acknowledging our order No.2324, which was in connection with a set of 13/43 ratio .650 hypoid bevel pinions and wheels to our numbers GB.5354 and GB.5355.

For these numbers, we would refer to our letter Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}7/MH.{M. Huckerby}22.8.39. You enclosed drawings No.GB.4994 and GB.4995. These numbers were later changed by you in response to the above letter.

At a later date, September 27th, 1939, your Mr. Knowles sent us Summary No.1000 in relation to the above gears.

The pitch angle stated on our copy of the pinion drawing is stated to be 19°0' and the Summary reads 18°35'. Further a set of 12/43 ratio .650 hypoid pinion and wheels to our order No.8919, and numbers RG.{Mr Rowledge}130 and RG.{Mr Rowledge}131, were supplied with your Summary No.1051.

The pinion pitch angle on drawing No.RG.{Mr Rowledge}130 reads 17°50' and does not correspond with the 17°8' on Summary No.1051.

We would be grateful if you would indicate which is the correct figure, so that we may put our records in order.

Yours faithfully,
FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.,
