1204 F.{Mr Friese} Dodd C.T. SALT Please let me have the names of any affected on the test section. To all Superintendents and Foremen. 4th December 1939 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} G Collin. Post Graduate Engineering Student All employees who were over 20 and under 23 at midnight on Thursday 30th November, who are eligible for Military Service, are called upon to register on Saturday next December 9th. In order to avoid men being called up after registration, it is most important that a slip be given to each, detailing the work he is at present doing with us according to the Schedule of Reserved Occupations, a copy of which has been supplied to you. It will not be necessary for employees to personally deliver this slip to Mr. Shone, but for the foreman or superintendent to send a whole batch into the Employment Office not later than Wednesday mid-day 6th instant. It is stressed that very great care is exercised in correctly naming the occupations, as it will be next to impossible to obtain the release of a man after he has once been accepted as liable for Service by the Military Supervisor. Before proceeding to the Labour Exchange on Saturday the 9th instant, each employee to be registered, must call at Mr. Shone's office for an official letter, to be produced to the Registration Board. If you have any employees who will not be automatically exempted under the age Schedule and whom you consider to be Key Men, please let this office have a list of those whom you wish to retain, together with their registration number (as given him by the Military Registration Officer), and date of birth.
