FROM DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} C. to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}6/M22.10.27. EAC.14. CLUTCH. X8301 Herewith we send N. sch. 2489. shewing the improved clutch adapted to the engine with a new crankcase. It is intended ultimately that a unit gearbox will be fitted, and the bolting of the new clutch casing to the crankcase is arranged with this object in view. Until a gearbox is fitted however the bolts are sufficient, but the bosses are left large enough to take the ultimate .312 bolts. The clutch is like N. sch. 2447. except that the dia. has been slightly reduced by using .312 bolts. We have made provision for a still larger clutch brake, which may or may not be found desirable. It will be noticed that the front brake differential gear has been slightly altered, the near side brake rope being brought further in. We should like Derby to verify that the rope runs clear.
