( 9 ) 34) AEROLITE PISTONS G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} I. IN R R 53 ALLOY WITH LATEST GRINDING. The pistons were in a very good condition; The rings were free. Oil consumption has not increased, an average of 1.400 MPG. has been obtained. There has not been any knocks hot or cold. 35) SPECIAL H.T. CABLES BETTER HEAT RESISTANCE. The cables have not deteriorated and are still in a good condition. No I Plug the cable fouls the ignition tower. 36) IGNITION PLUGS K.L.G. 850 TYPE. The Plugs have been free from pre-ignition, free from misfires. The condition is very good after 13.000 miles running. The gaps have not increased since last examined. 37) contact IGNITION. endless The contact arm of the make and break failed. The rivet held the fibre cam broke away also the earthing spring. The points were considerably burnt. A later design of contact arm was fitted, and was in good condition. B O D Y - W O R K S. The Body has deteriorated more than any previous Bodies we have run in France. Early on in the mileage, cracks appeared over the centre pillars of the doors. There was a loose joint on the N.S. over the rear door. The joints of the scuttle started to open out, and cracks started at the corners of the Sun-shine roof. These crept until they had reached the edge, and under the doors. The roof dropped until the O.S. front door was chattering at the top. A crack appeared in the pannel over the O.S. rear wheel arch. Upon dismantling the rear wheels, it was found that the steel arches had cracked, and broken round the supporting bracket at the rear. On the O.S. the fracture was to such an extent that the support of the Body was non-existent, and it had dropped upon the rear cross member. The same applied to the N.S. but the bracket for the exhaust, held that side up to a certain extent. | ||
