X3807 Exptl. Dept. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}7/KW. 14th February, 1934. Messrs. Ransome & Marles Bearing Co.Ltd., Newark-on-Trent. For attention Mr. Hickling. Dear Sirs, We are sending you herewith drawings of the Housing and Pinion Thrust Race of an experimental Axle that we know to be considerably overloaded. We should be glad if you would let us have a Bearing on the lines of the type you have recently supplied for the Bentley to suit this Axle; that is to say, with one half relieved for thrust, and of the increased capacity type. The Bearing we are testing on the road in a Bentley Chassis has now done just over 7,000 miles, and certainly appears to have adequate lubrication although we have not taken it to pieces. It will therefore be about a week before we bring this bearing over to you for inspection. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
