DISTEEL WHEEL
Detroit Pressed Steel Co. X41581B
Weight 45¼ lbs.

The Disteel wheel is not so neat in appearance - it has too many parts rivetted on for good production work.
It is not so waterproof as regards tyres. It is made up in three sections and has a poor surface for taking load on bolts - is more apt to shear - nuts are flat and do not locate - should be chamfered. The flange of the disc wheel comes up to side of flange on rim and is poorly rivetted.
Cups are also rivetted in the flange to take set screws holding detachable rim. The hubs supplied are defective swing to studs for holding wheels to flange being rivetted and not of sufficient length - flange for battery brake drums is smaller in dia. and makes it awkward for bolting up to owing to insufficient clearance between flange and drum - pinned nuts would have to be used. As two different sizes of nuts are used in bolting up wheel and flange, two braces would be required.
