A similar knock has developed in the engine front to that which we had when we were out here before. We found that the dynamo drive coupling nuts were slack; these have been tightened, but has had no effect on the knock. As this is only noticeable when very hot, we are deferring dismantling the engine front until a more convenient time.

We are still losing a considerable amount of oil from the axle even after fitting the breather.

Since raising the petrol pipe from the frame we have on several occasions driven for long periods at full throttle during the hottest part of the day, and have not experienced any drying up of the engine either from preignition or from petrol boiling.

We are finding it necessary to run with the bonnet flaps open to keep the water temperature below 90°C, as we are experiencing air temperature ranging from 20°C to 25°C.
