To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} re Exhaust Heating to SG{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}23/Ell.11.29
Copy to Wsr. War. Carburetters. Phantom II.

Would you please let me know what testing or development work has taken place in regard to this since I was at the Works on the 31st October.

The position is that America have a number of Phantom II chassis on order which they do not wish to take until we can fit this device and of course we cannot fit it until it is standardised.

We can at the moment make good use of the chassis which were reserved for them, but the position is a little difficult because we have to keep releasing them and do not know when we shall be able to let them have replacements.

I understand that the device has shown excellent results under the weather conditions prevailing at present over here, and the main difficulty seems to be to reproduce the maximum hot weather conditions so as to decide the degree of heating which may be allowed to take place under conditions of full load in hot atmospheres when working under extreme conditions.

I should be gld if you would let me know what the prospects are of getting this completed so that we may know what to tell America and what to do about their future chassis due shortly for delivery.
