Please receive herewith :- PD.265 Modified Brake Leverages. This scheme has been done in accordance with memos Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale}3/MH.{M. Huckerby}5.9.38. Items 3, 6 and 7, and Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale}3/MH.{M. Huckerby}30.8.38. Item 2. Various levers have been modified to provide for 10% extra travel in the linkage to allow for carrier plate deflection and other sponge. The servo and its libkage remains unchanged, the extra travel being accommodated elsewhere. The servo cam levers are now in line in the 'off' position, and are not provided with stops, the special headed pins being replaced by standard ones. The reason for this is to improve the clearances between the jaws and the levers. The pedal plate travel is now 4.500 inches as against 4.000 inches previously. The hand brake leverage is indicated as 70 : 1 and havinga travel of 9.750 inches at the hand lever knob. A drawing showing a modified quadrant will follow shortly.
