Y3322 [REDACTED] for [REDACTED]. c. Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} EP {G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} 8/H30.12.24. re. 40/50 HP. Gear Box Reverse Pinion Seizing up. We have experienced a further case of a reverse pinion seizing up on chassis No. 53-EU, when the chassis was going through its last final test stages. This is a trouble which we have experienced from time to time, and when the last case occurred, about two or three months ago, I was assured by the Works that the cause had been found due to faulty fitting and action had been taken for the trouble never to occur again. I also notice from reports from Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} that similar failures have occurred on the 10,000 miles test in France, and as a failure of this type may be rather serious when the car is in service, I consider it is of vital importance that this matter should again be gone into very thoroughly and some definite instructions given re inspection, or a special unit test instituted, so as to avoid the gear box being erected into the chassis with the possibility of this taking place.
