contd :- -5- Stiffness in the controls occasioned by a tight magneto sleeve or any other cause will obviously affect the relay in any one of the three ways enumerated. On the road, the characteristics of the ignition advance is such that full advance of the hand control should be used at low speeds. This will give full power and a smooth pick-up. At high speeds, on the other hand, it will be found that the hand control can be retarded appreciably without loss in power. This is due, as in the 20 HP., to the mechanical propensities in the governor itself. A simple method of checking the range of hand control on the distributor is by means of a lever attached to the distributor tower and a fixed quadrant. This obviates the necessity for continual reference to the flywheel. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
