AC6 Bearings - Phantom lll. --------------------- Confirming our discussion of this morning with a view to reducing the enormous amount of scrap that has been made on the Con. Rod Bearings on Phantom lll from the Billet Die Casting, it has been agreed that we now produce these Bearings in the form of a die cast ring in AC6 material commencing from today. Please note that this measure is a temporary one until such time as new and improved alloys are available. We can produce AC6 in a Die Cast Ring but owing to the high percentage rejection in the Foundry due to analysis by the Laboratory, we are justified in not agreeing with this process being stanardized. Our latest efforts are centri-cast bearings in AC9, which represent the cheapest possible method of Foundry manufacture combined with an alloy that is very stable and allows variation in its constituents. If the test bearings made with this combination are satis-factory, we shall have no hesitation in agreeing to the standardization of this method and material. | ||
