Golden Ply makes fast motoring three times Safer from bursts

CARS are faster—
SPEEDS are higher—
TYRES get HOTTER—
but you can drive at 40—50—60 with a new confidence on B. T. R.{Sir Henry Royce} Gilt-edged tyres, with the Lifeguard Golden Ply . . .

Why not, then, secure the FREE protection of the Lifeguard Golden Ply and definitely banish fear of bursts? B.T.R. Safety Gilt-edged tyres, with the unique Golden Ply, cost not a penny more than ordinary tyres and are available in both Standard and Reinforced construction.

A new type of tyre burst threatens to swell the serious toll of road accidents . . .

¶ Cars and roads have been radically improved, engines have been made more lively and powerful, vibration has been reduced and controlled. Naturally, motorists are driving faster and faster . .

¶ Do you realise what is going on inside your tyres when you are gliding smoothly along at 40 m.p.h.? Your tyres are revolving 10 to 15 times a second. It is impossible to tap so fast with your finger. And each time a tyre revolves it has to bend and flex at the point of road contact—in and out, as much as an inch.

¶ Such severe, sustained, incredibly rapid flexing generates intense heat—chiefly at the point where tread and casing meet. Not mere warmth, but intense HEAT. It reaches boiling point—would burn your finger if you could touch it.

¶ Heat wilts rubber—rots it—destroys elasticity and adhesiveness. In ordinary tyres, small blisters are liable to form at the danger point—where tread and casing meet. More heat, helped by the pull of centrifugal force, enlarges the blisters. Sooner or later—when you least expect it—BANG!—the tyre bursts and may throw your car out of control.

THE new Lifeguard Golden Ply—latest and greatest contribution to safer motoring—prevents bursts by counteracting their cause. No matter how fast or far you drive on B.T.R. Gilt-edged tyres—which alone have the Golden Ply protection—no matter how hot they get—heat blisters do NOT form. Just where they are liable to form in ordinary tyres, B.T.R. has placed this new and exclusive compound which does not break down under heat.

THERE is no guesswork about Golden Ply—and no exaggeration. Following exhaustive laboratory research, an impartial test of Golden Ply tyres against ordinary tyres was made on big, heavy cars, driven at racing speed, hour after hour, on one of the fastest tracks in the world.

¶ All the ordinary tyres became unsafe or actually burst at one-third the mileage achieved by the Golden Ply tyres. Not a single Golden Ply tyre developed heat blisters or burst. That is why we claim that Golden Ply tyres have made fast motoring three times safer from tyre bursts.

The EXTRA safety of the Golden Ply is allied to Gilt-edged security from skids, luxurious resilience, silence and long mileage.
