Dear Sirs,

We have now fitted a number of sets of Hartford Shock Absorbers to Rolls-Royce chassis. The weakness we have found in these shock absorbers is the noise which takes place after they have been run 2,000 or 3,000 miles, caused by the wear on the bushes. It means very little wear on these parts before the noise is very objectionable. We found that the bush which wears is the one which takes the vertical movement of the shock absorber on the top and bottom joint.

We should be pleased to have your recommendations as regards overcoming this fault. We suggest that these bearings should be considerably increased in size.

Yours faithfully,
