RE CRITICISM OF "V" SERIES CHASSIS.

Referring to the attached papers, I have discussed the matter with EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} and the following represents our proposals to deal with the matters raised:-

We are only dealing with the items still under discussion.

Item 2. The cost of the job is small and there should be no serious delay. We are therefore prepared to change the parts. Will CJ. kindly agree.

Item 3. It is practically certain that the cause of the fractured fan bracket was fans which were themselves out of balance.
The belt itself we do not think really affected the issue. Since we have assured ourselves that all fans are accurately balanced, EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} agrees that no sign of end vibration or jiggling is noticeable. We feel that the case has been adequately met by the replacement of all fans by carefully balanced ones, which has actually been carried out.

Item 4. Falling off in power. We feel that the use of "L" shaped rings not lapped on their cylindrical faces will prevent over-oiling which will undoubtedly prevent falling off in power. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} is investigating a particular instance of this in the case of PH's open trials car. The report which will be issued in connection with this particular investigation will throw some light on the subject and make it plain if anything further is necessary to be done.

Item 7b. Dynamo output. It is agreed that the dynamo output at 30 m.p.h. is just short of balancing the lamp and ignition load, but is only approximately half an amp down. Investigations are being carried out to try and keep the output current higher on the increase of road speed than at present.

Item 8. This trouble is appreciated and experimental work is being carried out on same, with the object of determining whether it will be necessary to go back to the water jacketted throttle for heating purposes. We have no alternative at present. Con
