- 2 - BY15/H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} 12.6.25. Item 13. A matter of this kind is constantly kept before Experimental Dept's attention. They have confirmed the suggestion on the 10,000 mile test report which has just been issued. The same point is being carefully watched on all long test runs with chassis or engine. Item 14. No-one at the Works feels that this is a point which demands modification. It has given satisfaction through all the running that this chassis has undertaken in France. It is fitted to a car which has done 21,000 miles and has given no trouble at all. It is superior to rod and pin joint connections because it is in a very exposed position and rod and pin connections are very liable to rust up when only used very occasionally. It is a considered part of K's design, and we see no reason at present for modifyin it. Item 15. There is ample room to keep this short copper pipe quite clear in its discharge from the exhaust connections, and this is being done. It is not advisable to clip this pipe to the engine or to the chassis frame as relative movement takes place which may easily result in fracture of the pipe. Item 17. This criticism has been put up to West WitteringHenry Royce's home town and the matter is having their attention. Item 20. If Sales will arrange to inform us when batteries are to be carried inside the frame we will supply the extra length of cable, but we still think that carrying the battery inside the frame should be discouraged. Item 21a. Early on new springs were ordered of increased stiffness to ensure the shutters closing. The springs I refer to are enclosed in one of the connections and allow flexibility so that when one set of shutters closes, it does not represent the end of the travel, and therefore movement can be obtained to close the set of shutters on the opposite side. With the stronger springs which are fitted and careful attention to setting, this trouble has been cured. Item 21b. We do not feel it is necessary to try and fix the temperature of the water accurately to within a few degrees, but in any case we are Con. | ||
