ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED, NIGHTINGALE ROAD, DERBY. TELEGRAMS: "ROYCAR," DERBY. TELEPHONES: 476 (Four Lines). DEPARTMENTAL MEMO. This column is for Name of Person addressed. DATE. RP30/T/10213. X 334 Mr Wormald, Re Experimental Car No. 2200. 10.2.13. Axle fitted with Double Brakes. Brakes very good and very effective, very smooth in action and appear quite satisfactory as regards pulling up the car. There does not seem enough clearance on the foot brake. Brakes get hot after very ordinary use, and do not "clear". Also clearance when warm is so small that the application of rear brakes causes foot brake shoes to catch. I think we should attempt to get more clearance. Pedal could be set so as to "come on" later; there is now ample movement between the pedal and the board with the wheels locked. Might also suggest little less leverage so as to increase clearance. Brakes gave no trouble with oil getting on same. Mechanism feels rather springy, but This sheet must be filed with the correspondence to which it refers. (Contd) | ||
