| ( 5 ) WATER PUMP. LOP. EB.2706. New, complete to the above LOP.- Standard Production. "Palmetto" gland packing supplied by Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} The gland was not adjusted during the mileage and no leaks occurred. The spindle was found to be in good condition when stripped. It is something new for a Bentley to complete 15.000 miles without leaks from the gland. The Palmetto packing is most satisfactory. WATER CONNECTIONS. LOP. EB.682. New, complete to above LOP. incorporating:- Leyland petrol & oil resisting rubber hose S.1663 K.{Mr Kilner} in bottom pipes. Klingerite Water Joints. The rubber hose was in excellent condition at the conclusion of the mileage. No leaks were experienced from the Klingerite joint washers. OIL & PETROL FITTINGS. LOP. EB.2806 Lec.4288-4291. Tecalemit Filter LOP. E.8/984. Lec.4692. Ph.lll type with felt element. Breakage of the oil pipes due to vibration of the filter relative to the engine was experienced. Special steel pipes, and additional support for the filter were supplied and fitted and prevented further breakage, but vibration still took place and the lower oil pipe was worn by the rear clip as a result. A new felt element was fitted in the Tecalemit filter after 4,000 miles as the original one showed signs of becoming choked. The new one ran 11,000 miles without any signs of choking. IGNITION DISTRIBUTOR. New Delco-Remy Ignition Distributor and governor supplied by Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Wst. Freedom from misfires on pick-up and a governor characteristic that cut out detonation and rendered the use of the hand control unnecessary were good features of this distributor.
