Coachwork CONFIDENTIAL Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/RG.{Mr Rowledge}1.JMA. 1021(4) Messrs.Wilmot-Breeden Ltd., Eastern Works, Camden Street, BIRMINGHAM, 1. March 24th, 1944 For the attention of Mr.H.J.Spicer. Dear Mr.Spicer, Your letter of the 21st. to hand and your queries noted. I can give you very little more information than when I was with you on Monday last. Head Lamp Brackets - No decision - awaiting design investigation. Bonnet Mouldings - No decision - similar position to Head Lamp Brackets. Boot Hinge FD{Frank Dodd - Bodies} EXP.6501/A & B - I am assuming that you have not tooled this item. I have investigated this problem and find that we can use this fitting for our six prototype jobs exactly as designed. It may be advisable to revamp this hinge in one or two places before we consider production tools. Carpet Channels FD{Frank Dodd - Bodies} EXP.6539 - No decision - awaiting design investigation. Spare Wheel Clamp RB.{R. Bowen}10011 - This item was, I believe, hand made on the previous supplies. I have looked into this problem of a common clamp for both small and large tyres and find that the whole assembly would need modification. We should certainly need a longer screw on the handle for the large tyres, but we might, by redesigning the clamp plate, find a common shape that could do service for both large and small tyres. If that should prove to be the case, how will your production be affected? The templates for the Ventilating Window Frames and glass channelling are still some way off. You can carry on with the Ventilator opening mechanism, but that is as far as we can go at present. -Continued over/leaf- | ||
