TEMPERATURE RECORDER FOR 40/50 HP.CHASSIS.

Attached Mr. Day's copy of this note is confirmation of our telegram respecting N scheme 89, which asks that to save complication the temperature recording instrument be fixed on the engine side of the dashboard, so that it can be taken away together with the tube and bulb, when it is desired to remove the cylinders of the engine.

The dial of the instrument would protrude through a hole in the dashboard, in a position which can be conveniently seen by the driver. The temperature recording instrument has to share the dashboard space with the distribution box on the electrical system, and the starter switch button.

Would you kindly make a scheme for Mr. Royce dealing with this matter.

It would be nice if the distribution box, Mr. Royce thinks, could be in the very centre of the dashboard, but this may not be possible on account of the starter button switch which is operated by the left foot.

The thermometer bulb should be inserted in a vertical position in the elbow on the outlet water pipe, so as to be easily taken away. Some flexibility should be introduced in the connecting tube between the instrument and the bulb so as to avoid cracking the tube, due to the relative movement of the engine and dash.

Would you kindly send to Mr. Royce at the earliest possible moment a scheme made in accordance with the new suggestions.
