Dear Mr. Hopkins,

Re Graphite Bronze Clutch Facings.

With reference to Mr. Robotham's letter of same date, we find that in reading our drawing G.54327, you had evidently adopted the American method of projection as regards the relation of the two views, with the result that the rivet holes are drilled and countersunk "the wrong hand".

In order to use these facings, we have been obliged to re-drill the plates to which they are rivetted.

We enclose a further print of facing G.54327 and would explain that, starting with the view on the left, the piece is "tipped over" about the side next the paper, so that the view on the right is looking on the back of the facing and not on the friction side.

We quite appreciate that this is opposite to the accepted method in America, but trust that this explanation will make the matter quite clear.

Thanking you for your co-operation.

Yours faithfully,

for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD.
