Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/JBD.{John B. Dixon - Fuel Systems}32/KW.30.9.36.

We are enclosing a copy of a letter we have received to-day from the S.U. Company. We understood that this practice of bending the contact support blades had been discontinued and had only been employed a short time in England at any rate.

The disadvantages of it were pointed out to you when the point was raised, and also when we paid a visit to the S.U. Company. As instructions to make this modification were given by you, we would be glad if you would see that they are cancelled if you have not already done so.

We admit that a slight shortening of the stroke does not affect the working of the pump, and does reduce the noise, but the danger is that when the support blade is bent, sufficient movement is not left and the stroke is shortened out of all reason. As the S.U. Co. warned us of possible troubles, they would be justified in refusing the guarantee on these pumps.

We would like to have information as to how many pumps are affected and when the practice was stopped.

Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/H.B.Dixon.
