Re: FAILURE OF REAR WHEEL DRIVERS
ON BENTLEY 4 1/4 & 3 1/2 LITRE CHASSIS
---------------------------------
CHASSIS B.6.BN{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} - Mr. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} EDMOND BLANC - Mileage: 36.752 Kms.
When dismantling the rear axle of the above chassis on the 31.5.36 in order to fit two strengthened type rear axle tubes, we found that the o/s wheel driver was cracked near the neck. We fitted a new one and charged the owner.

CHASSIS B.34.BN{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} - Dr. Plesch - Mileage: 24.000 Kms. At the request of the above customer, we sent a mechanic last August to Salzburg, Austria, to attend to the above car. Our man found that the o/s wheel driver had failed. He had to fit a new one, plus a new hub. The owner paid all expenses less the cost of the replacement parts. Dr. Plesch unfortunately is a very bad driver and very hard on his car.

CHASSIS B.122.GA - Mr. Francois LANG - Mileage: 15.619 Kms.
The above car was sent to us on the 24th instant and we had to fit a new n/s wheel driver as the original one had failed.

In view of the above, we think that wheel drivers need strengthening.
The fractures occurred in the neck of the drivers.
