LOW RATING SPRINGS 20/25 HP.

X7960. X5410.

With reference to Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}5/S.15.5.31.

Originally we fitted a pair of rear springs to GLR-59 having nine inches initial deflection. These were the only springs that we had available. When we fitted them we pointed out that we did not want them to stay on the car as they were too highly stressed, and that we would replace them as soon as we could get correct springs from the manufacturers. We sent a pair of the correct springs having 6.4" deflection to Cricklewood as per memo Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}2/KT.17.4.31. We do not know whether these springs have been fitted yet, but assume that the car would not be criticised until this alteration has been carried out.

The shock absorber load on this car is correct with the exception of the fact that there is a .055 hole drilled in the front shock absorber valve, which in our latest practice has been deleted. We recommend that this hole should be blocked up. This having been done, and the correct rear springs fitted, it should be possible to judge exactly the proposed standard of riding we wish to standardise.

We attach an exact specification of the suspension of this car when it left Derby.
