We now enclose a drawing No. T10 showing the proposed alteration to the exhaust pipe on the exhaust side and also a sketch showing a suggested modification to the air scoop. We should even have thought it would have been adviseable to fit a drain cock in the lowest part of the air intake pipe, to drain away any oil that might be deposited there. It would be of great assistance to us if you could let us have as early as possible the serial numbers of the machines on which the existing air intakes have been found to crack. The present air intake has been designed with a view to obtaining the greatest strength, and the reason it cracks is a mystery to us.
