Automatic Brake Tester

With the Weaver Brake Tester you can tell the actual stopping distance provided by the brakes of any car, and determine if they are within legal requirements and whether they provide the safety which the driver has a right to expect. The Weaver Brake Tester stands pre-eminent as a service unit as well as a testing and merchandising unit.

Note the simple mechanical construction disclosed by lifting the tread plates and cross plate. Nothing but simple springs and levers. Nothing to get out of order.

Construction Features
ALL WEATHER TREADS
Tread plates of the Weaver Brake Tester are surfaced with a special mesh which offers greater friction to the automobile tires when wet than does a dry concrete pavement. Testing and service work need never be interrupted because of weather. Cities and states have used them successfully for public tests out-of-doors in all weather with practically no interruption.

Cut CY-5
Your brake department never needs to close down because of weather with treads like these on your Brake Tester. The tires are practically "geared to the road" whether wet or dry.

FLOOR SPACE
Practically speaking, the Weaver Brake Tester requires less than two square feet of space on your service floor—for the 6' 3" high pedestal. The rest of the machine is all only 1 1/2" high or less, can be driven over from any angle, and hence need not interfere with storage or any service operations. Whenever practical we recommend that pedestal be placed near a wall entirely out of the way.
Many shops place the Brake Tester in an entrance or driveway, where it not only utilizes space otherwise wasted, but invites a test of every car that drives in.

Flush and Surface Types
The Surface Type of Brake Tester is simply anchored to the floor with lag screws. Thus it can be moved if necessary. The tread plates stand only 1 1/2" above the floor level, and all corners are rounded. A car can be driven over the plates from any angle without injury either to tires or to the brake tester.

NO POWER COST
Operating cost is absolutely nothing—no power or connections of any kind are required. Maintenance costs are negligible—occasional repainting and addition of Brake Tester Fluid being all that is usually required.

Automatic Brake Tester

The Flush Type is recommended to garage owners who own their building. Plates are absolutely flush with the floor. Requires only 2 3/4" space below floor level—irregularities are all filled in with planking or concrete.

Cut CY17—Testing a truck on the Universal Size, Flush Type Brake Tester. Handles any vehicle weighing up to 8,000 lbs.

Three Sizes—for Every Need
The Weaver Brake Tester is available in three sizes—Junior, Universal and Heavy Duty. You can not harm any one of them by driving over it with a loaded ten ton truck! The difference is in the number of pounds of brake energy that can be registered and in the size and distance between the tread plates.

The Junior size will handle any passenger car or light truck satisfactorily.
The Universal size will handle any vehicle weighing up to 8,000 lbs.
The Heavy Duty size will take care of any car, truck or bus, including dual wheels, six wheel jobs and semi-trailers.

Cut CY-25—Testing a Bus on the Heavy Duty Size, Flush Type Brake Tester. Such inspections are a matter of safety routine among many public utilities as well as in many truck fleet shops.
