Sidgreaves - MD}16/E.4.2.38. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} arranged for 6.B.IV. to run mileage at Chateauroux because the main feature of interest in the car was the overdrive gearbox. Mx{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}'s altered schedule of testing is to show up troubles which hard driving does not produce, but in the case of the gearbox fast driving seemed the best form of testing, and would get an answer for the second half of 'M' Series quickly. The present arrangements are that Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} will take over the car at 10,000 miles. 26.G.VI. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} discussed this with Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer}, and it was decided that for this car testing similar to that used in the past, and which does provide results based on a known datum, would be best. Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} is going to do the London mileage on one of the other cars. This decision was again made because of the necessity of sufficient testing to enable RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer}, to order material. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} | ||
