G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} IV. RE INCREASED LEVERAGE TO FRONT BRAKES. We have been kidded by two snags after fitting the shorter levers and the new axle. The two operating levers on the axle shaft had been erected the wrong way N.S. on O.S. and vis-versa. This made the nuts of the bolts foul the axle and prevented the brakes operating after a slight wear had taken place. We are not complaining as most probably it was done in the rush to get the axle to us. The other is more serious and prevents the use of shorter levers. With the wear of the brakes the short levers come over the center finally coming into a straight line with the pull from the servo consequently no load is being applied to the front brakes. The movement of the brake toggle lever being one inch to produce this result. servo lever equalizing shaft to front brakes We are for the time being, keeping the front brake adjustment close to obviate the above condition. G.W.Hancock G.W.H. P.S. - We have found an equalizing lever which we can alter to bring the same ratio increase to the front braking. | ||
