CHASSIS CABLES.

As you are aware, in the past we have bought all Chassis Cables from Messrs. W.T.Glover & Co. Ltd, of Manchester, to our various specifications.

To check their prices, we sent an enquiry (with specifications and samples) to Messrs. Ward & Goldstone of Manchester, and their quotation is considerably lower than Messrs. Glover's.

"The approximate cost of cables for the 40/50-HP Chassis at the prices quoted by Glovers is ..... 19/5d per chassis
At the prices quoted by Ward & Goldstone 12/11d per chassis

Saving per chassis - 6/6d per chassis.

As similar cables are also used on 20/25-HP and Bentley Chassis, the approximate saving in each case would be at the same rate.

Messrs. Ward & Goldstone followed up their quotation by a telephone call yesterday, when Mr. Goldstone stated that, amongst others, they are now supplying :-

Leyland Motors ......... All.
Dennis Motors ......... "
Ford Motors ........... "
Austin Motors ........ A percentage.

They are particularly anxious to show us what they can do, and claim that they are making cables equal in all respects to the C.M.A., and are outside the Association.

We realise of course that we cannot change our source of supply without carrying out tests, and therefore suggest that we purchase enough for say 2 dozen chassis from Messrs Ward & Goldstone for testing out, with a view of making this firm an alternative source of supply.
