-2- Ha/CHP.1/WJ.5.4.30.Contd. and the mixture circulated through the strainer. Three minutes running, at a pump speed of 1000 R.P.M., was sufficient to clog up the strainer; the pressure drop building up to approx. 30 lbs/sq.ins., and the flow almost ceasing. A twist of the handle cleared the strainer for another two or three minutes when it again became clogged. It appears that it would be necessary to arrange an automatic mechanism to twist the filter vanes, in order to prevent the strainer becoming quickly clogged if installed on a car engine.
